Equipment

Ingredients

  • 36 small cocktail wieners (or use mini smoked sausages)
  • 2 pounds puff pastry dough (we recommend buying it in sheets, already rolled out)
  • 3 tablespoons dijon mustard (or use honey mustard for more sweetness)
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare 1-2 large baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
  • Place the rolled out puff pastry dough on your work surface and use a pizza cutter or knife to cut it into 36 small rectangles that are approximately 1/2 inch shorter than the cocktail wieners you're using (so the wiener sticks out 1/4 inch on each end) and long enough to wrap around the cocktail wiener with some extra to pinch together.
  • Because different brands of sausages and cocktail wieners are slightly different in size, it's impossible to give an exact measurement for slicing the puff pastry dough.
  • Brush each piece of dough with a small amount of mustard and then place one cocktail wiener on top of the mustard and wrap the dough around the wiener, pinching the ends of the dough together well. Pinching the dough together well will prevent the dough from breaking apart during the baking process.
  • Place each one on the prepared baking sheet(s) with the seam of the dough facing down.
  • Whisk the egg in a bowl and add 1-2 tablespoons of water to it, whisking well. Brush the egg wash over each one before baking.
  • Bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Serve immediately.
