If you love garlic even a little bit, you’re going to go crazy for this stuff. We enjoy it on crackers, bread or toast, bagels, and even as a part of appetizers, like my Creamy Bruschetta Bites. Thanks to this recipe, you can skip the grocery store cream cheese aisle and make this Easy Homemade Herb and Garlic Cream Cheese yourself at home, at a fraction of the cost. And it tastes SO much better than anything from the supermarket, trust me! The only kitchen tool that’s really useful for this Easy Homemade Herb and Garlic Cream Cheese recipe is a garlic press. If you don’t have one, they’re very inexpensive and useful for mincing garlic so much faster than you could ever do with a knife and cutting board. In recipes like this, the garlic needs to be completely crushed in order to integrate well and a garlic press does the trick every time. Easy Homemade Herb and Garlic Cream Cheese
This Easy Homemade Herb and Garlic Cream Cheese is perfect for spreading on toast, bagels or crackers, and it makes a great appetizer! Skip the grocery store and make it yourself with only 5 basic ingredients!
Recipe: Ingredients
- 16 ounces full fat cream cheese, approximately 440 grams (can also be made with low fat or even fat free cream cheese)
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, pressed or very finely minced
- 1 teaspoon dried or fresh chopped thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- salt and pepper to taste (optional)
Recipe: Instructions
- Add the cream cheese to a bowl and add the garlic, herbs and some salt and pepper.
- Whip by hand with a whisk or rubber spatula, or use a hand mixer on low speed to combine all the ingredients well.
- Cover and place in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving, to let the flavours develop.
- Enjoy on toast, bagels, crackers, or however you desire.
