I’ve got another healthy holiday side dish coming your way today! This Maple Cranberry Coleslaw is a super easy healthy side dish that’s packed with festive flavours, crunchy nuts, and sweet apples and cranberries. I just know you’re going to love it!
This Maple Cranberry Coleslaw is a delicious twist on a favourite summer recipe, and it’s even easier to make with a pre-cut coleslaw mix from the grocery store. If you can’t find coleslaw mix, it’s easy to slice your own cabbage and carrots with a mandolin slicer – check out THIS ONE from OXO…it’s my favourite (affiliate link)!
How to Make Healthy Side Dishes for the Holidays
- Stick with fresh. Using fresh, in season produce is always a good idea when it comes to maximizing flavour!
- Go for colour. Using a variety of veggies with contrasting colours will make any healthy side dish look SO appetizing!
- Add healthy fats. Adding some cheese (think feta, goat cheese, parmesan…) or high quality oils will go a long way!
- Use natural sweeteners. Making side dishes with honey or maple syrup adds a ton of flavour!
- Go for texture. Nuts and seeds are always a good addition to healthy side dishes because they add visual interest, flavour, and great crunchy texture!

Are you using fresh or dried cranberries here? It sounds delicious.
I like using fresh cranberries, but you can easily used dried cranberries in this recipe instead. 🙂
Hi Penny, for this recipe I used fresh cranberries!
