Easy Homemade Cajun Seasoning Blend
This Easy Homemade Cajun Seasoning Blend is better than any store-bought Cajun seasoning, and it's so easy to make at home! Make it spicy or mild, to your family's tastes!

Recipe: Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons sweet smoked paprika (try the Hungarian variety)
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- 3 teaspoons white pepper (reduce to 2 teaspoons, if desired)
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 3 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 3 teaspoons dried thyme
- 3 teaspoons mild chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (reduce to 1/2 or 1/4 teaspoon to reduce the heat even more)
Recipe: Instructions
- Add all the spices to a small bowl or a jar with a lid. Stir or shake up until blended.
- Dust or rub onto chicken, shrimp, salmon or even pork before grilling or roasting.
Recipe: Notes
This spice blend keeps for about one year in an airtight container, when stored in a cool, dark place.
Feel free to reduce the spicy ingredients (cayenne and white pepper) and replace the amounts with additional paprika or mild chili powder if desired.

Iโm excited to try this! I actually do love heat but I stand alone in my family that way. Haha! Any recommendations on where to buy a quality paprika? I seem to end up with the flavourless kind at the grocery store. I assume you want a smokier kind here
Yes, a smokier paprika is the best. Try Bulk Barn in Canada ๐
This looks amazing! I use Cajun seasoning quite a bit so this should come in handy
Thanks so much!
Love making my own seasoning! So giving this a try!

Thanks! ๐
I definitely look forward to trying this! I have been looking for a mild cajun seasoning. I also love the flavor, but not the heat. Thankyou for sharing this.
Exactly!! Hope you’ll love this recipe Sharon!
Ah – great combo but you do know 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon right? The only thing on this list that needs to be measured with a teaspoon or less is the cayenne. Otherwise my go to recipe for cajun spice!
Thanks for your feedback! We’re happy to hear you enjoy our recipe. Yes! We know, however we chose to write the recipe the way we did, to make calculations easier for people who want to make less. Happy cooking!
