Servings: 7 tablespoons
Calories: 28kcal
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons sweet smoked paprika (try the Hungarian variety)
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- 3 teaspoons white pepper (reduce to 2 teaspoons, if desired)
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 3 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 3 teaspoons dried thyme
- 3 teaspoons mild chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (reduce to 1/2 or 1/4 teaspoon to reduce the heat even more)
Instructions
- Add all the spices to a small bowl or a jar with a lid. Stir or shake up until blended.
- Dust or rub onto chicken, shrimp, salmon or even pork before grilling or roasting.
Notes
This spice blend keeps for about one year in an airtight container, when stored in a cool, dark place.
Feel free to reduce the spicy ingredients (cayenne and white pepper) and replace the amounts with additional paprika or mild chili powder if desired.

I’m excited to try this! I actually do love heat but I stand alone in my family that way. Haha! Any recommendations on where to buy a quality paprika? I seem to end up with the flavourless kind at the grocery store. I assume you want a smokier kind here
Chrissie says
Yes, a smokier paprika is the best. Try Bulk Barn in Canada 🙂
