Side dishes are a BIG deal this time of year and if you know me you’ll know I’m always looking for new ways to get more veggies on the table…especially during the holiday season. And you’ll also know I like to shake things up from time to time…these Asian-Style Honey Glazed Carrots are SO delicious, they’re easy to make, and they’re a different take on your typical steamed-carrots-as-a-side-dish thing. They’re sweet, they’re savoury, and you’re going to love them! And if you’re wondering how I got those gorgeous crinkle cuts on the carrots, no I didn’t buy them like that from the grocery store (although some grocery stores do sell crinkle cut carrots in the frozen or produce sections). I used one of my favourite kitchen tools – this Crinkle Cut Knife from Joie (affiliate link). It’s a very small kitchen item that won’t break the bank, and if you have kids it’s a worthy investment because what kid doesn’t love crinkle cut vegetables for something different!?

Asian-Style Honey Glazed Carrots
Recipe: Ingredients
- 4 cups sliced carrots (about 12 large carrots)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger (or use 1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger)
- 1/2 teaspoon Sriracha or your favourite hot sauce
- sliced green onions for serving
- salt and pepper (to taste)
Recipe: Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
- Slice the carrots (crinkle cut or standard slices both work fine).
- Add the carrots to the hot pan and toss them in the olive oil. Cover the pan with a lid. Let them cook for several minutes, then toss them again.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, the soy sauce, the garlic powder and ginger, and Sriracha.
- After the carrots have cooked, covered for about 7 to 8 minutes, pour the honey mixture over them and toss them well in the mixture.
- Turn the heat to medium-low and continue to cook, stirring every few minutes, for about 8-10 more minutes until the carrots become just fork tender.
- Remove them from the heat, add some sliced green onions, and serve.
