And also in true Busy Baker fashion, these mashed potatoes include the skins. If you’ve been a reader of mine for any length of time you know how much I hate peeling potatoes…seriously, I’ll do just about anything to avoid that task. Sure, I also love the health benefits of leaving the potato skins on, but if I’m really honest I’m all about the time saving. And really, who wouldn’t love the fact that a super easy slow cooker recipe just became even easier!?
If you’re looking for a super simple side dish that’s as easy to make as it is delicious, these Rustic Slow Cooker Garlic Mashed Potatoes are the recipe for you! Enjoy them at your next holiday dinner, or anytime of the year with grilled chicken or steak, or even as a meal on their own with some sour cream, shredded cheese and bacon bits!

These mashed potatoes look unreal! I’ve never had or made slow cooker mashed potatoes but I will definitely be trying these before thanksgiving!
Thanks so much! I hope you love them as much as we do!
Looks delicious. Are these potatoes cooked or raw before you cut them up? I want to try them ASP. Thanks much
The potatoes are raw when you put them into the slow cooker. I hope you enjoy the recipe as much as we do!
how many people does this serve?
I’m excited to make them
It serves about 6-8 people 🙂
Can you use vegetable stock instead of chicken?
Absolutely!!
Do you drain the liquid off the potatoes before mashing with the milk
You shouldn’t need to drain them. There shouldn’t be too much liquid left over 🙂
Made this last night but did only half of the recipe – there is only two of us. I used all 5 cloves of garlic in mine – they were small. I did not drain liquid off at the end when adding milk. They came out great – very tasty. I did add a handful of grated parmesan at the end. Yummy!!! Thank you.
Sounds delicious!! Thanks Karen!🙂
What size crock pot do you use? I need to double the recipe and wondering if it’ll fit in my 7Qt crock pot?
I used a 7 qt crock pot for this recipe so doubling it wouldn’t work unless you had a bigger one.
I am definitely going to try these.
Thanks Terry! I hope you give it a try!
Looks delicious .. however.. we’re out of the house for 8 hours
. How long should I set the timer on the crockpot .. high or low? Also can I use cream or milk instead of sour cream? My kids don’t like the taste of sour cream
Well, you can set your timer to 2.5h so that your potatoes cook for 5.5h on low. As for sour cream, you can try replacing it with the same amount of Greek Yogurt or with a little less cream (depending on the consistency you prefer).
