This may just be the New Year talking, but I am currently in love with smoothies. I have one almost every day after my morning workout (and also on the mornings when I skip my workout…don’t tell me I’m the only one!) and if I don’t have one for breakfast then I almost always make a smoothie for myself and the kids during the afternoon slump. Our favourite smoothie lately? This Strawberry Banana Orange Power Smoothie! I call this Strawberry Banana Orange Power Smoothie a “power smoothie” because it’s not one of those low-calorie smoothies full of greens that you choke down only for health purposes. No way – this is a sweet and totally delicious smoothie that’s slightly higher in calories but still totally healthy and perfect for getting that almost instant burst of energy we all crave. It’s packed with fresh and frozen fruit, and I make it with unsweetened low-fat Greek yogurt for extra protein without extra sugar. Sometimes I add orange juice, sometimes milk, sometimes just plain old water, and sometimes a mix of all three. Adding orange juice will give you even more of an energy boost if that’s what you’re after (just make sure you’re using a juice that’s as natural as possible), but I’ve even added an extra orange into the mix for that orange-juice flavour and then added water as my liquid to save calories. Strawberry Banana Orange Power Smoothie
This Strawberry Banana Orange Power Smoothie is the perfect fruit smoothie packed with berries, bananas, and juicy oranges! It makes a great breakfast or post-workout drink, and it's the perfect mid-afternoon pick-me-up snack!
Recipe: Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen strawberries
- 1 large orange
- 1 large banana
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt or other vegan substitute
- 1 1/2 cups orange juice, water, almond milk, or other liquid of your choice.
