If you’ve been gifted an air fryer for the holidays and it’s been sitting on your shelf collecting dust, or if you’ve been thinking about picking up an air fryer for awhile but haven’t yet, we’d HIGHLY recommend getting started. An air fryer is a fantastic kitchen appliance for achieving that oven-crisp or fried texture in a fraction of the time with next to no added fat, and to be honest it’s a kitchen appliance we’d have a hard time living without!
Here are some air fryers we’d recommend (affiliate links):
- A great Air Fryer for space-saving (2 quart capacity)
- The perfect Air Fryer for large families with a dual basket feature
- A standard Air Fryer for everyday use (works well for a family of 2 to 4 people)
- A large Air Fryer for everyday use (works well for a family of 2 to 4 people)
To make this recipe you’ll also need (affiliate links):
To make this air fryer garlic bread you’ll need:
- french bread or ciabatta bread
- unsalted butter
- garlic powder
- dried parsley
- salt
- fresh parsley or chives (optional)
Time needed: 10 minutes
Follow these simple steps for the perfect air fryer garlic toast!
- Preheat your air fryer.
Preheating your air fryer for 5 minutes or so cuts down on cooking time and helps the garlic bread become nice and crispy.
- Choose your favourite bread.
We like using french bread or a french baguette for this recipe, but Ciabatta bread also works well!
- Make your own homemade garlic butter.
Mix the butter, garlic powder, parsley and salt together well.
- Slice the bread lengthwise.
Instead of cutting the bread into slices, slice it in half lengthwise and add the garlic butter mixture to each half, then toast.
- Air fry until crisp.
Air fry for about 5-7 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
- Slice and serve.
Slice each piece into 1 1/2-inch slices and serve with your favourite meals!
How long does garlic bread take in the air fryer?
Garlic bread cooked in the air fryer takes about 5-7 minutes.
Can you heat up garlic bread in the air fryer?
Heating up garlic bread in the air fryer is one of the best ways to reheat it. It creates a delicious crispy texture.
What temperature do you heat garlic bread?
Bake or re-heat garlic bread at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
Can you put bread in the air fryer?
Yes you can! Toasting bread in the air fryer creates a ton of flavour and a delicious crispy texture.
Is garlic bread better cooked in foil?
Garlic bread cooked in foil creates a softer garlic bread that if not cooked properly can be soggy. Garlic bread not cooked in foil is flavourful and crispy.
Why is my garlic bread not crispy?
Cooking garlic bread at a low temperature will heat it up without creating any crispiness. Cooking garlic bread in foil can also sometimes prevent it from becoming crispy.
How is garlic bread made?
Garlic bread is made by slathering butter infused with garlic and herbs onto bread and then toasted to perfection.
Why is garlic bread blue?
Any acid will turn fresh garlic a blue or green colour (like lemon juice, for example). Some olive oils will also turn fresh garlic green. We like using garlic powder in our homemade garlic bread to avoid this colour change.
Can I use fresh garlic in this recipe?
Yes! Using garlic powder makes it easy, but feel free to use minced fresh garlic.
Can I use salted butter in this recipe?
Yes, however using unsalted butter and adding your own salt is a great way to control the flavour and the sodium content in this recipe.
