Summer is the season of everything barbecue and grilling and while you know how much I adore anything on the grill, I’m also a big fan of anything easy and simple – this Easy Oven-Roasted Barbecue Chicken couldn’t be easier to make, no grill or barbecue required! 
This Easy Oven-Roasted Barbecue Chicken recipe is one of our family’s favourite main dishes – we love serving it with my easy Macaroni Salad Recipe and some grilled veggies or this Strawberry Spinach Salad Recipe. It’s’s on the table in about 30 minutes and it’s always a crowd pleaser!!
How to make Oven-Roasted Barbecue Chicken
Making this dish is so simple!
- Combine the paprika, salt and pepper, chili powder and garlic powder and dust it over the chicken drumsticks.
- Place the chicken in a lightly greased baking dish and bake for about 20 minutes.
- Brush with your favourite barbecue sauce, or my Easy Homemade Honey Garlic Barbecue Sauce.
- Roast for 10 minutes, and serve!

Easy Oven-Roasted Barbecue Chicken
Recipe: Ingredients
- 12 chicken drumsticks or chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce OR make my Homemade Honey Garlic Barbecue Sauce
Recipe: Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a large baking dish or baking sheet with cooking spray.
- Combine the paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.
- Place the chicken drumsticks in the baking dish skin side-up and dust the spice mixture over them.
- Roast them in the oven for about 20 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and brush generously with the barbecue sauce (Make my Homemade Honey Garlic Barbecue Sauce for best results!). Roast for another 8-10 minutes until the chicken is cooked through to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 Celsius).
- Serve with your favourite side dishes.

How long should I first roast the chicken legs if they are partially frozen still?
I’d suggest thawing them first, or using an instant-read meat thermometer to test for doneness.
