Can you believe we’re halfway through November already?? It’s almost December and if I’m honest I haven’t given much thought to the holidays this year at all. For those of you who are American, Thanksgiving is coming up very soon (our Canadian Thanksgiving was in October, so we celebrated over a month ago already!) and I bet you’re all busy getting ready, planning menus and cooking up a storm! I’m excited to share this brand new holiday recipe with you today, for Sparkling Winter Berry Holiday Cocktails, with an alcohol-free twist!
I always think of the holidays as a time to slow down in the kitchen – no, I don’t mean that I stop cooking, rather it’s a time where I pull out more of those labour-intensive recipes that take time and effort and special ingredients I don’t tend to buy regularly throughout the year. It’s a time for rich, traditional flavours and special recipes passed down from generation to generation shared among family and friends. Oh, and the baking. We can’t forget about the baking now, can we?? But when it comes to holiday beverages, especially drinks to serve to guests, I’m all about taking the easy way out. Seriously, I’d rather slave away making homemade pies and gravy and then pop an easy warm cider in the Crock Pot or throw together a 3-ingredient punch at the last minute. It’s about priorities, people – am I right??
This Sparkling Winter Berry Holiday Cocktail is the perfect no-fuss beverage for any Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s party. You can throw it together in less than 10 minutes with ingredients you likely already have in the house and it’s simply gorgeous, not to mention the fact that it caters to all your guests – try it with your favourite champagne or sparkling wine if you wish, or serve it with sparkling water or even 7up for an alcohol-free version that everyone can enjoy. Sparkling Winter Berry Holiday Cocktail
Recipe: Ingredients
- 1 liter cranberry juice (about 4 cups)
- 1/2 liter apple juice (about 2 cups)
- 1/3 cup strawberry-flavoured syrup (grenadine bar syrup also works)
- 3/4 to 1 liter sparkling water or champagne (or your favourite sparkling wine, 7up, ginger ale, or any other sparkling beverage works here)
- fresh or frozen cranberries, fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries for garnish
- water and sugar for rimming the glasses (optional)
Recipe: Instructions
- Add the cranberry juice, apple juice, and strawberry syrup to a large pitcher and stir well until combined.
- Rim glasses with sugar by moistening the rim of the glass with water and then dipping the rim of the glass in sugar (place some sugar on a plate).
- Fill each glass half full with the juice mixture and add a few berries to each glass as well, placing a strawberry on the rim of each glass.
- Top it up with the sparkling water, champagne or other sparkling beverage of your choice.

However, in keeping with holiday tradituon and growing cycles, this really isnt a winter holiday drink with the likes of strawberry and blueberries in the recipe.
However it does add a tone of celebrating longer days and a warmer earth as we take daily steps forward towards spring days.

Strawberries and blueberries are sold all throughout the year, Dear gADS/2018. Why can’t it be a winter holiday beverage? I think it’s colorful, sparkling and cheerful…… just what we need to make it through this 2020 – Covid19 holiday. Let’s do this… #busybaker

Hi Britney, our recipe yields 8 servings of approximately 300ml, and it may vary based on how much champagne/sparkling water you will use and how much fruit you will add, and it depends also on what type of glass you want to use. So it’s up to you to try and see what fits best. Hope this helps!
