‘Tis the season for warm cozy drinks and this Vegan Hot Chocolate is one of our family’s favourite ways to warm up during the cold winter months. We love to eat plant-based whenever we can, and with 2 family members who can’t eat dairy, this Vegan Hot Chocolate is the perfect solution!

I love sharing all my favourite warm winter drinks with you, like this Healthy Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate recipe, or this Pumpkin Spice Latte, because there’s nothing better than making your own coffee-shop style drink at home. I do this all the time to save time and money, and also to be able to make drinks exactly how we want them.
Vegan hot chocolate can be hard to find at local coffee shops, so making your own with your favourite dairy-free milk and all-natural sweetener is the best way to enjoy this seasonal treat! We love making ours with unsweetened coconut milk and maple syrup, but feel free to make yours with agave to sweeten and whatever non-dairy milk you choose – almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, or oat milk are all great choices!

Vegan Hot Chocolate
Recipe: Ingredients
- 4 cups dairy-free milk (coconut, soya or almond milk work well)
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- vegan marshmallows for serving (optional)
Recipe: Instructions
- To a medium-sized pot over medium heat add the milk, maple syrup and cocoa powder.
- Whisk well to combine and continue to stir until the mixture comes to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer for 5 minutes.
- Pour into mugs and serve with your favourite vegan marshmallows or vegan whipped cream.
