These Christmas Cookie recipes are the BEST of holiday baking! When the Christmas season arrives, there’s nothing quite like whipping up your favourite cookie recipe. Whether you’re looking for timeless Christmas cookies like gingerbread or sugar cookies, or classics like peanut butter blossoms, chocolate crinkle cookies or peppermint shortbread, we’ve DEFINITELY got the Christmas cookie recipe that will make you the MVP of your next Christmas cookie swap party!
- Many Christmas cookies call for the creaming method, where sugar and butter are beaten together until light and fluffy. This is easiest with a mixer, either a hand mixer or a stand mixer. This creates that soft, chewy texture we all love. Recipes like whipped shortbread, easy sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms, and chocolate chip–style cookies usually benefit from using a mixer.
- Our sturdier doughs like gingerbread cookies and chocolate crinkle cookies can be mixed entirely by hand with just a bowl and a wooden spoon. These recipes are great options if you’d like to get kids involved in the baking or if you don’t own a mixer.
- Any of these recipes can be made by hand and if you do, you will get a good arm workout!
If you chose to have a baking day to make several recipes in a day or you make a large batch of just one of these Christmas cookie recipes, you need to make sure you store them properly to ensure they taste the freshest. Store these Christmas cookies in the freezer in an airtight container for up to 6 months. Be sure to add layers of parchment paper between the cookies to prevent sticking. If you make them closer to when you need them, you can store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature.
