Raise your hand if you’re still on the New Year’s Resolution wagon! I set several goals for 2019, one of which was to add even more nutrition to our family’s diet through fresh fruits and vegetables. I’m happy to say that we are eating all the veggies and fruits these days, and LOVING it! I’m trying to pack in as many green vegetables as possible every day and this Healthy Green Protein Smoothie is one of my favourite ways to eat my veggies!

Smoothies make a great breakfast or post-workout snack, and they even make a great lunch if you’re on the go. My daily schedule is totally packed and I’m usually in the middle of the noon school run when my mid-day hunger hits. How to make a smoothie:
Smoothies are SO easy to make, especially if you have a good-quality, high-powered blender like this one from Blendtec (affiliate link). Simply throw in all the ingredients (don’t forget the liquid), and blend on high speed until smooth. It’s truly that easy!
And feel free to make whatever substitutions you want! Don’t have vanilla protein powder? Use chocolate! Don’t like apples? Try frozen berries instead! The sky is the limit!

Healthy Green Protein Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- 2 medium apples chopped, skin on
- 1 scoop vegan protein powder vanilla flavour
- 5 cups fresh spinach
- 3/4 cup ice
- 1 cup coconut water
- 1 tablespoon each chia seeds, hemp seeds, and/or ground flax seed optional
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a high-powered blender and blend until smooth.
- Add up to 1/2 cup more coconut water, if necessary, to reach desired consistency.
- Pour into cups or glasses and enjoy!

I have to say, I was skeptical at first because I’m not a huge fan of hemp hearts in my smoothies, but this turned out really good. I did use pineapple instead of mango and added that 1/2 scoop of protein powder. I did have to use more liquid though and I used oat milk. But overall, it was good and I’ll be making it again
