If I could only eat food from one area of the world for the rest of my life it would no doubt be Mediterranean food. I eat a Mediterranean-style diet most of the time, mainly because the food is so healthy, colourful and flavourful. This Whipped Feta Dip is one of my favourite Mediterranean recipes and I’m excited to be sharing it with you today!
This Whipped Feta Dip is perfectly creamy and delicious, packed with garlic, lemon, sharp feta cheese and creamy Greek yogurt. We love this dip as an appetizer, but it’s also delicious served alongside grilled chicken or fish with a big Greek salad or protein-packed Mediterranean-style salad. Looking for more dip recipes? Ingredients for Whipped Feta Dip
- authentic feta cheese (made from sheep’s milk)
- Greek yogurt
- fresh garlic
- lemon juice
- lemon zest
- salt
- olive oil
- pine nuts
- paprika
- garlic powder
- chopped mint or parsley
How to make Whipped Feta Dip
This Whipped Feta Dip is SO easy to make. Just follow these simple steps:
- Choose REAL sheep’s feta. All Greek feta cheese is made from sheep’s milk, not cow’s milk. For the best flavour, choose authentic Greek feta cheese (usually available at most supermarkets and Mediterranean markets)
- Drain your feta. Try to add as little of the brine as possible, but don’t rinse the brine off your feta.
- Choose full fat Greek yogurt. Low fat yogurt contains a lot of water and stabilizers. This can affect the texture and taste of the dip, so always choose full fat Greek yogurt for the best flavour.
- Use your food processor, NOT a blender. Food processors are the way to go for thick, creamy dips like this. Add all the ingredients together.
- Process on high speed while you drizzle in the olive oil and until smooth and the mixture reaches the perfect creamy texture.
- Serve with your favourite pitas, pita chips, or veggies for dipping!
A food processor is a very helpful tool for making blended dips. Blenders can sometimes do the trick, but they don’t usually work properly for hummus or whipped feta dip as the texture can be too thick for most blenders. I recommend this KitchenAid food processor or this food processor (both are affiliate links).
