You know those standby recipes you make over and over again because they’re just SO delicious and they turn out perfectly every single time? Well, these Chicken Burgers are one of THOSE recipes. They’re super flavourful, they’re perfectly juicy, they’re packed with protein, and they’re easy to make and cook up for a simple weeknight dinner. Oh, and did we mention they’re delicious? Chicken burgers are a lighter alternative to the classic beef burger, made out of lean ground chicken meat with spices and herbs, along with some special ingredients to keep them tender and juicy.

Chicken burgers can be pan-fried, made on an indoor grill, or grilled on an outdoor propane or charcoal grill. Any way you cook them, they’re a delicious and lower fat alternative to a traditional burger, but they’re just as tasty!

For a finer texture of the onion which will blend in better with the other ingredients and add more moisture to your burgers, grate your onion instead of dicing it finely.

Mix everything very well to ensure even distribution of all ingredients, but don’t use a mixer or spoon as this can cause you to overwork the meat mixture, making it tough and dry.

After forming the burger patties, chill them in the fridge for 15-30 minutes if time allows. This helps them stay firm and helps the flavours combine.

To make sure you get evenly shaped burgers, use a burger press if you have one. This helps with even cooking since the burgers are an even thickness when you use a press.

Your target should be 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) for a perfectly juicy burger. Removing them from the heat right when they reach that temperature ensures they are cooked and safe to eat, but not dry and crumbly.

Be sure to rest the burgers for 10-15 minutes right after you cook them. This helps them stay juicy on the inside and makes them easier to handle.

If you’re running into any trouble with this chicken burger recipe, here are some possible problems you might encounter and how to fix and prevent them:

Make sure that the burger mixture is well combined and not too wet. If needed, add a little extra panko breadcrumbs. Excess moisture can create texture issues, and it can be caused by the fact that all ground chicken isn’t created equally – some varieties have a higher fat and lower water content, and others will have more water and less fat.

Make sure you only cook the patties until they reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) and let them rest after. This will ensure you get moist patties every single time.

Season your patties well with salt, pepper, and herbs. Make sure you also use delicious condiments on your burgers when you serve them, but be sure to add enough seasoning to the burger mixture so they have lots of flavour.

Oil your grill pan or your grill well to prevent sticking. Trying to turn the burgers too early can also cause sticking – be sure to let the burger caramelize before trying to flip it. This caramelization will cause it to release from the hot pan.

Make sure your patties are all the same size and thickness by using a burger press or by weighing them. This will ensure they cook evenly.
