This Raspberry Lemonade is the perfect summertime refreshment made with fresh fruit and honey (refined sugar free). It’s the best easy healthy lemonade recipe made with fresh raspberries!
Estimated reading time: 7 minutes
When it comes to summer refreshment, homemade lemonade is the best of the best. One of our favourite homemade lemonade recipes is this Raspberry Lemonade! It’s so simple to make with only water, fresh fruit and honey. If you have a blender (even a cheap one will do!) and a strainer, you’re only minutes away from this Healthy Raspberry Lemonade!
- It’s HEALTHY. Lemons and raspberries are packed with Vitamin C and antioxidants, and since this lemonade is made with honey instead of sugar, it’s a healthier choice.
- It’s made with NO REFINED SUGAR. Honey is a liquid sweetener so it dissolves easily in liquid, and it adds a lot more flavour than sugar does. Because honey tastes sweeter than sugar, you’ll probably find yourself adding less honey than you would sugar to your lemonade, making each glass lower in calories. No raspberry syrup or simple syrup here!
- It’s EASY TO MAKE. It’s made with only a few ingredients and it’s ready in 15 minutes. We love making a big batch and enjoying it throughout the week.
- It’s made with FRESH FRUIT. There’s almost nothing better than fresh, local produce and this raspberry lemonade is a delicious way to enjoy local raspberries that are nutrient dense and super flavourful!
Follow these tips to make the BEST homemade raspberry lemonade!
It’s best to use fresh raspberries and lemons to give the best tasting lemonade. You can use frozen raspberries instead of fresh, but it’s a good idea to thaw them first so they blend smoothly into the lemon juice mixture, making a smooth lemonade. When fruit is ripe, it’s extra sweet, so be sure to use berries and lemons that are at their peak ripeness.
Taste test the lemonade mixture to see if it’s too sweet or too tart for your tastes. Adjust as needed with honey or more fresh lemon juice to achieve the taste you’re looking for. Some raspberries are extra tart and may need a little more sweetener to balance out the flavours.
After blending the fruit mixture, use a sieve to strain the raspberry puree to remove the seeds and pulp for a smooth texture. Your lemonade will be much more smooth and enjoyable to drink.
Adding ice makes this lemonade extra refreshing, but don’t add too much ice or it will water down the lemonade. Add a few ice cubes to each cup and be sure to chill the lemonade to give it that cool, refreshing taste.
If your lemonade lacks flavour it could be because your raspberries weren’t ripe enough. Unripe or tart raspberries will impact the taste of the raspberry lemonade, so be sure to use fresh, ripe berries, and adjust the flavour to your tastes.
If the lemon raspberry purée is not strained, the mixture will be thick and chunky with the raspberry seeds. It is best to use a sieve and strain the lemon raspberry puree for a smoother texture before pouring it in the pitcher with the water and ice.
Adding too much ice and water to the pitcher will water down the lemonade mixture. Be sure to follow the recipe and avoid adding too much ice so you don’t water down the lemonade too much. Tasting as you go helps prevent adding too much water.
