Running into issues with this homemade everything bagel seasoning? Here’s a list of issues you might encounter and how to fix them!
Keep this seasoning mix in a cool, dry place, ideally in an airtight container, to preserve its crunch and flavour. Also, make sure you don’t add any mixture to the container when using it.
Add some extra poppy seed, sesame seeds, dried onion, and garlic to “dilute” it until you feel like the seasoning is more balanced.
Make sure you use fresh garlic powder and onion powder. Add some more salt, garlic powder, and onion powder to your preference. Alternatively, add a pinch of cayenne pepper, chili flakes, or chili powder for an extra kick.
Because of the different densities, some ingredients might drop to the bottom of your jar. Make sure you shake the jar or container well before using it.
If you want to top baked goods or proteins before you cook them, make sure the surface is a little moist before sprinkling the seasoning. Use a little melted butter, oil, water, or an egg wash depending on your dish.
